CANDIDIASIS

CANDIDIASIS

Diabetes can make you prone to recurrent yeast infections.

If you experience repeated yeast infections, stop wasting money on medications, check your blood sugar levels instead. (Most people focus only on Random Blood Sugar [RBS]; also check your HbA1C to rule out prediabetes.)

If you do not address diabetes as the underlying cause, you may continue treating infections endlessly.

Yeast infection is not a sexually transmitted disease. Even virgins can develop a yeast infection.

Yeast infections occur when the fungus Candida grows out of control.

Candida is normally kept in check by Lactobacilli, the “good” bacteria (probiotics). Anything that disrupts the balance between lactobacilli and Candida can predispose you to a yeast infection.

Factors that can predispose you to a yeast infection include:

1. Overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics

2. Douching with antiseptic soaps or vaginal washes

3. Applying yogurt inside the vagina

4. High intake of sugars, including fructose from fruits and honey (Many women still believe eating pineapples will make their private parts taste or smell like pineapples!)

5. Diabetes, related to the high sugar intake above

6. HIV/AIDS and cancer

Signs of a possible yeast infection include:
A. Vaginal rash
B. Thick, white, odorless vaginal discharge
C. Burning sensation during sex or while urinating

If you notice these signs, consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Do not use antibiotics for yeast infections, as they will make it worse. Yeast infections should be treated with antifungal medications.

Good evening.
